Not Really a Surprise

It turns out that Police don't have a duty to protect anyone. Similar to a case back in 2005 where the Supreme Court said police didn't have to protect a woman from her abusive husband (even when there was a restraining order), a Judge has found that Broward County Sheriffs had no Constitutional duty to confront the shooter at Parkland. Keep that in mind when you turn your kiddos over to a public school with a resource officer. Just one more good example of how poorly Gun Free Zones work. Go Read It

What If We Dealt With Reality

instead of a bunch of hypothetical hogwash? Seriously, does John Cassidy at The New Yorker have nothing better to do than carry the water of gun haters?

Here’s a little mental experiment. Imagine, for a moment, that the Tsarnaev brothers, instead of packing a couple of pressure cookers loaded with nails and explosives into their backpacks a week ago Monday, had stuffed inside their coats two assault rifles—Bushmaster AR-15s, say, of the type that Adam Lanza used in Newtown. What would have been different?

Let's use our imagination to ty to tip the scales back to the way we want things, i.e. "I take your legally owned property away from you and make you as helpless as a little kitten, like me. That will make us all feel better, won't it?" 

John Cassidy, you can trot along home with all the other pantywaists. I want to be able to protect myself and my family. If the bad guys can still get the guns you so fear guns via illegal means, don't make me a criminal by attempting to legislate my rights away. Go read it.

So You Do Want Registration

Another instance of blathering on about how gun control would have helped, but then the argument really doesn't support the idea. There are already laws on the books that make gun possession by the Boston Marathon Bombers illegal. What they did was illegal. They decided to become criminals and no whining about the NRA is going to change the fact that more gun laws would not have done anything to have stopped them. Mr. Earl Ofari Hutchisonn needs to listen to the facts of his own story.

Boston bomber suspects Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reportedly horded a small arsenal of guns. They were semi-automatic weapons. They did not have to go through a background check or have a permit. Authorities will now be forced to spend countless hours and personnel trying to track down exactly how, when and where they got their guns. They could have easily have gotten them over the Internet, at a gun show, or just simply bought them from an individual seller on the street or anywhere else.

Authorities will investigate. It's what they do. Registration or not, they would have to chase paper. Hutchinson is calling for an electronic database of gun owners to speed up the process. Not going to happen. Ever. What difference does it make now after the fact? Go read it.

So They Lost Because Their Supporters Are Lazy

Poor Michael Hirsh has perhaps the best one. ” … it is practically a iron law of politics that the larger the interest group—in this case, the 90 percent of all Americans who want background checks—the less likely it will be able to mobilize against a smaller, more organized and passionate interest group, such as the National Rifle Association.” Nine out of ten people can’t win anything against the one holdout.

I would liken gun control supporters to the single, voice-of-reason holdout on a jury. The one who really understands, and holds dear, the idea of justice, the law, and reasonable doubt. That single person among twelve can ensure that an innocent man goes free. 

It takes guts and determination to stand your ground when being browbeaten by those who want to make an emotional decision and get back to work and families, rather than truly consider what that hasty decision will do to another human being or the rights of future generations. 

Just say "Guilty"and we can all go home, just say "Gun Control" and everything will be better. "Wrong," says the man of strong heart, "protect the innocent, protect the rights of law-abiding citizens." Gun rights advocates did just that and, thankfully, the Senate listened. I'm proud you and I were part of that effort. I personally would rather be part of an "organized and passionate" minority than a lazy majority any day.

Turning Left, Literally

Officials announced last month that the NRA will be the title sponsor for the April 13 Sprint Cup race at TMS, igniting a firestorm of controversy among some because gun rights have been a nationwide issue since the Dec. 14 massacre in Newtown, Conn., which left 20 children and six educators dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School....
Now Clint Bowyer will drive a car at Texas Motor Speedway with the message "With Rights Comes Responsibility. Secure Your Firearms," in the April 13 race. Bowyer's sponsor, Gander Mountain, also has an online campaign underway encouraging responsible gun ownership.

Wow. Just Wow.

Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO): "I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available."

Then the follow-up from her mouthpiece:

“The Congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years, and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to ‘magazines’ when she should have referred to ‘clips,’ which cannot be reused because they don’t have a feeding mechanism,”

So, I guess he doesn't undertand that clips are reusable, too? Oh, that's right, they don't know anything about guns, but they want to ban them anyway. Wow.

Something's Missing

What a great bit of history. Too bad it all points to an incorrect conclusion. Mr. Parry dances all around the logical conclusion, but doles out some wrong-headed, hare-brained, ninny drivel instead.

Could It Be, Mr. Biden

That the will of the people caused the assault weapons ban legislation to be dropped? 

We are going to continue to push for logical, gun safety regulations. Eventually the will of the people is going to prevail...

Wow, really? And this,

"When you go to registration, it raises all the black-helicopter-crowd notion that what this is all about is identifying who has a gun so that one day the government can get up and go to the house and arrest everyone who has a gun, and they’ll cite Nazi Germany and all that."

Sheesh. Let's marginalize those who have studied history and recognize a consistent pattern. Whatever double-barrel Joe. Go read it.

One-sided consideration...

...is no consideration at all. I know it's a teensy little opinion on the internet, but this is the "opinion" of someone who thinks he is informed. This is what proponents are up against. Mr. Frank Weaver believes it's about control and, as far as that goes, he is right. What Mr. Weaver doesn't understand is the lengths others would go to for the amount of control they want. All the shotguns and rifles he saw around him in his youth will eventually be gone as well. 
Here's a gem,

So you, sir, are surely an expert in understanding all the consequences, unintended or otherwise, and should lend your opinion about legislation, correct?

Isn’t that one of the ulterior reasons we go to war…to prevent enemy countries from taking over and controlling our children…to make sure they enjoy the same freedoms we have?

Um, maybe you should try to listen to yourself a little closer. This is a war, a legislative one currently, and proponents of the Second Amendment are fighting for that very reason. Stop being clueless and trying to control us and our children. 

More Mark Kelly Hypocrisy

Plans To Do What Now?

Hypocrite turned liar to turn criminal? I was going to leave this one alone, but it's hard to ignore the poop when it's rolling around ankle deep. Mark Kelly, husband of Gabby Giffords, plans to sell his AR across state lines to determine ease of being a criminal. Is there a local law enforcement official keeping an eye on this? How does he plan to sell it and then get it back to turn it in, eventually? 

Kelly posted the purchase on his Facebook page. He next plans to sell the assault rifle across state lines to see how easy it is to do, and he will eventually turn the assault weapon in to police. 

I'll just keep my mouth closed and shake my head over this one. Go read it.

Let's Be Sensible

And all you law-abiding, non-criminal gun owners just give it up. Whatever Melady. Your touchy-feely load of hogwash fails to recognize that there are already laws on the books which cover criminal acts. Please also notice that your holier-than-thou diatribe demonizes inanimate objects rather than the cowards who would turn a gun on a child. 

"Let's drop the false choices. We can honor the Second Amendment and also take reasonable steps to make our communities safer. No hunter or responsible gun owner needs an assault weapon designed to inflict maximum carnage on the battlefield."

What, exactly, is a weapon supposed to do in your estimation? Deploy a feather to tickle a perpetrator until he wets himself and stops his attack out of embarrassment? Sheesh. Go read it.
