Yeah, Right

Not Really a Surprise

It turns out that Police don't have a duty to protect anyone. Similar to a case back in 2005 where the Supreme Court said police didn't have to protect a woman from her abusive husband (even when there was a restraining order), a Judge has found that Broward County Sheriffs had no Constitutional duty to confront the shooter at Parkland. Keep that in mind when you turn your kiddos over to a public school with a resource officer. Just one more good example of how poorly Gun Free Zones work. Go Read It

But, but, but, gun control...

Gun control doesn't work. It's really as easy as that. Evidently the shooter was in both France and Germany. There's "gun control" that people here want already in place in both countries. Didn't work. Go Read It.

This is Why

A prime example of why owning isn't the only part of firearms. Seriously, go get some training people.

Uncomfortably Close

We are getting way too close to background checks for everything becoming a reality. Unless you want to have to visit an FFL every time you give or inherit a firearm, you need to call and write your Representative to let them know how you think.

Such a Shame

Friendly fire at Thousand Oaks. Though this article says, incorrectly in the last paragraph, that Long killed the officer.

Who Was That Now?

By all means, let's hold that bastion of freedom, China, up as an example of good gun policy...air gun policy anyway. <eyeroll></sarcasm>

We All Need to be Reminded

Follow the four rules every single time you handle a firearm. Problems can arise for anyone.

Guns Are Bad, Except When They're Not

Don't you hate it when you try your hardest, but things just don't turn out the way you expect? Seems like that goes for big thinkers, too. The Violence Prevention Research Program at the UC Davis School of Medicine and the Center for Gun Policy and Research at the Johns Hopkins University got together to do a study that ended up showing that strict California gun laws, comprehensive background checks, etc., had no effect on homicide rates there. Turns out, good people who follow those laws aren't the problem. Go figure.

Where'd I go?

Where, exactly, did I run off to? Well, I got lazy. Then my laptop went hazy and I moved over to a tablet. Typing on one of those things is a pain in the hindquarters. Seriously, the only thing worse is hacking out a large amount of copy on a phone. Thank the Lord for Android and swipe keyboards in a pinch. Thankfully, I have now gone back to something with a real keyboard.

Anyway, then I figured that we were on the backside of the Obama administration and it seemed like things were going well for people who were fans of guns. I mean, outside of that administration trying its darnedest to strip us of our rights. There were a bunch of people standing on the front line making sure that we didn't give an inch.

So, I relaxed, rolled over and joined the ranks of the sleeping. But, now, I see things changing again and I feel like I need to step up. Even if only a dozen people are reading this (maybe that's wishful thinking) I need an outlet to get my gun-guy thoughts organized.

Top it all off with the fact that I don't like the idea of a known gun grabber being lined up to be Speaker of the House again. I'm picking up the cause once more and planning to start dropping info and pointing out all the ugly I see.

Join me, won't you?
